The Illinois Selected Morticians Association, Inc. (ISMA) is a Chartered Member of the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association, Inc. (NFD&MA). Organized in 1940 as the Funeral Directors Civic and incorporated in the State of Illinois in 1949 as the Illinois Selected Morticians Association, Inc NFP 501(c) 6. ISMA was established to maintain and support the cooperative activities of the African American Funeral Directors and Embalmers; to promote education programs for the public in connection with the work of funeral directors and embalmers; and to sponsor educational seminars and networking Opportunities for the benefits of the African American Funeral Director and Embalmer.
